Due to the harsh summers and general climatic conditions prevailing in the region, the flora and fauna of Ranthambore have adapted themselves accordingly.
The fauna of the region is dominated by tiger, who is at the apex of the food chain. Though it is on the top of the food chain, the tiger is a solitary animal and the sightings though frequent are always a matter of chance. Other type of cats found in Ranthambore are the leopards, jungle cats and the fishing cats. These cats share their prey with other carnivorous animals like the sloth bear, striped hyena, and jackal. |
